Update: Over 2000 of us have now pledged to ditch single-use cups and opt for a reusable coffee cup in Essex. That would be the equivalent of 300,000 fewer single-use coffee cups being thrown away every year - if stacked on top of each other this would reach 10.5 times the height or the Shard!
Congratulation to all those who won a Love Essex KeepCup! All the winners have now been informed. Fortunately, we are able to keep the pledge open to allow even more residents to get involved over the coming months. We will continue to draw one new winner at the end of each month until Christmas – so please keep an eye on your emails!
We are also very pleased to be working with Weald Country Park and Basildon library to offer a limited number of Love Essex KeepCups for sale, costing £15 each.
Many of you mentioned you would like to see a scheme introduced to cut down on single-use water bottles – good news there is one! Working in partnership with Refill, Essex and Suffolk Water, local businesses and fantastic volunteers across the county, we launched Refill Essex. Refill is a national, practical tap water campaign that aims to make refilling your reusable water bottle as easy, convenient and cheap as possible by introducing refill points on every street.
Stay tuned for anymore developments and don’t forget to use your KeepCup out-and-about as many retailers offer discounts off your drinks purchase. Also please feel free to spread the message far and wide by sharing photos of your reusable coffee cups with #LoveEssexKeepCup on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Each person using one reusable cup, you could save 150 single-use cups from being thrown away EVERY year!
Reusable cups are an easy, environmentally-friendly alternative to single-use cups. By using one reusable cup for a year, you could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 92% compared to using single-use cups!
Many of you may already be leading by example, taking steps to reduce the amount of single-use items you use such as straws, shopping bags, plastic bottles and of course coffee cups. It’s easy to get involved and you could WIN a KeepCup.
We’ve already pledged now it’s YOUR turn… simply pledge to use a reusable cup in place of a single-use cup when on-the-go, working or volunteering. Even if you already have a reusable cup, please still pledge to show your support for the movement towards a more sustainable Essex.
We need your help to encourage as many Essex residents to get involved as possible, please get your friends and family to take the pledge.
All entrants must be residents of statutory Essex, please check out our competition terms and conditions for more information on competition rules.
