Recycling in the Bathroom

Monday 19 November 2018

More and more people in Essex are recycling, but with the 2016-17 recycle rate across the Essex Waste Partnership at 53.3%, there’s still more that can be done.

Use our new search function above to find out what you can recycle locally. All you need to do is enter the item you want to get rid of and your postcode. It’s that easy.

We also have some top tips on how best to recycle items around your bathroom, an often forgotten place that generates recyclables.

  • Empty and rinse your bathroom plastics, such as bleach, shampoo and shower gel bottles. A quick rinse will do.
  • Leave labels and lids on your plastics and squash… every bottle counts.
  • Remove plastic lids from aerosols and place both items in your recycling receptacles.
  • Why not use a handy small basket to collect your recyclables to your recycling receptacles. Or when you’re finished with an item, just pop it on the top of the stairs ready for your next trip downstairs.
  • Don’t forget cardboard toilet roll inner tubes and toothpaste boxes can also be recycled.

Every item you recycle gets turned into new products and helps protect the environment, reducing pollution of the oceans and saving the need to use virgin materials in production
