One winner will receive £1,000. 10 runners-up will receive a prize worth up to £100. All prizes are sponsored by N+P

Entry deadline: 

The prize draw is open until w/c 29 September 2025.

Entry mechanism: 

To enter, participants must put their food recycling caddy out for collection on their collection day throughout September. 

Eligibility: 

This competition is open to residents aged 16 and over that received a letter from Uttlesford District Council and Love Essex inviting them to enter the prize draw. Any other entrants will be disqualified.

Winner selection: 

Our team will randomise all the households involved in the pilot. The first house chosen by the randomiser will be visited by our team and if a caddy is correctly placed outside, they will receive a letter notifying them they have won the top prize. If this house has not placed a caddy out, our team will move onto the next house in the randomised list. The same will occur for the 10 runners-up prizes.  

Terms and conditions
  1. No purchase is necessary and the competition is free to enter. 
  2. Entrants must be 16 years or older. 
  3. Entrants into the Food Recycling Prize Draw must have received a letter from Uttlesford District Council and Love Essex inviting them to enter the prize draw. Any other entrants will be disqualified. 
  4. The competition will be from 18 August 2025 to week commencing 29 September 2025. 
  5. Our team will randomise all the households involved in the pilot. If this house has not placed a caddy out, our team will move onto the next house in the randomised list. The same will occur for the 10 runners-up prizes. 
  6. Winners will be notified of their prize via a letter. 
  7. One winner will receive £1,000 as a bank transfer. 
  8. 10 runners-up will receive a prize worth up to £100. The runners-up can select one of five prizes. The prizes will be processed by Love Essex via the email addresses provided by the winners. 
  9. The competition winners can donate the value of their prize to a charity of their choice if they wish to do so. 
  10. Prizes must be claimed by Monday 13 October 2025. We reserve the right to re-draw the prize if the winner cannot be contacted by this deadline.  
  11. If you receive a letter notifying you of your success, please email love.essex@essex.gov.uk. In your email, please include your: full name, home address, and chosen prize or charity.  
  12. No cash alternatives to the runners-up prizes are available but we reserve the right to substitute the advertised prize for another of equal or greater value should the original become unavailable. 
  13. Please note that winning participants are also bound by the respective organisation's terms and conditions for the voucher that they select. 
  14. The winners will only be contacted regarding the specific prize draw they have entered via email. Love Essex may request permission to publish the winners’ names for promotional activity related to the prize draw. 
  15. Essex County Council reserves the right to cancel or amend this promotion due to events arising beyond its control. Neither Essex County Council nor its agents are responsible for third party acts or omissions. 
  16. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions. 
  17. The promoter of this competition is Essex County Council, whose decision regarding any aspect of this competition shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
