Donate

Lots of items can be donated for reuse via charities across the county. You can help support local causes while reducing the amount of items that are thrown away.
Furniture, white goods and electrical items
For larger items such as furniture, white goods and electrical items you can contact your local furniture project. They may even be able to collect from you.
Each furniture project will have a slightly different purpose, from supporting low-income families in the community to providing jobs and training opportunities.
Reuse directory
Visit our new reuse directory to find projects and organisations that accept donations of furniture and appliances near you. Most of them will even collect your items for free!

Donate large electrical appliances at recycling centres
Residents can donate larger electrical appliances (such as dishwashers, freezers, fridges, ovens, tumble dryers and washing machines) to the Lighthouse Furniture Project at designated areas at some of our recycling centres. These items are repaired and refurbished, and then are passed on or sold at affordable prices in the local community.
Find out which items are accepted and where to drop off your items.
Donate clothing, toys and books
For smaller items such as clothing, toys, books and bric-a-brac, you could donate to your local charity shop. Please check if they accept the items you wish to donate and you may need to make an appointment.
