The partnership between Freegle and Essex County Council (Love Essex) is a best practice example of how the public sector can support the not-for-profit sector, to achieve better outcomes for Essex residents.
Encouraging reuse has long been an important part of the Love Essex team aims. Reusing items keeps materials in circulation for longer, saves us all money and helps to protect the environment.
A number of community-led, local Freegle groups began to form in Essex after Freegle's launch in 2009. A mutually beneficial partnership was officially formed in 2016, and there are now 13 local Freegle groups across Essex with over 82,000 members.
