Colchester Recycling Centre is the spotlight of a new video

Colchester Recycling Centre is spotlighted in a new video on how to make the most of your recycling centre. The site reopened at full capacity in March following essential surface repair work being carried out. This work ensured that the site could continue to operate safely and effectively.
The work was carried out in three phases from late January to mid-March, with each phase focusing on different areas of the site. Despite the reduced capacity, the recycling centre remained open to the public throughout the works.
Cllr Peter Schwier, Climate Czar and Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, shared his thoughts:
"We know that recycling centres are a valued service that enable residents to recycle as much as possible. We have a responsibility to ensure our sites are safe for staff and users, so I’m pleased to see this important maintenance work has been completed before the busy spring period.
Thank you to our on-site staff who worked hard to keep the recycling centre open and to provide access to recycle and dispose of waste as quickly as possible. Thank you to residents for being patient and continuing to treat our staff with respect.”
During these essential repairs, the site signage was updated and new white lines were painted. These improvements will make visits more efficient and help boost recycling rates.
A new video helps residents plan how they can get the most out of their visit to a recycling centre.
