The journey of recycling and waste in Essex

Do you ever wonder what happens to your recycling and waste once it’s been collected? If so, we can help!
We have started creating a series of videos that detail the journeys of different types of waste. You can follow an item from your bin at home, through the various stops along the way before it reaches it’s final destination.
For example, once food waste has been collected from your outdoor caddy, it is taken to a waste transfer station. From there, it is taken to Bio Capital’s East London Biogas, an anaerobic digestion plant in Dagenham. Your food waste is then transformed into renewable energy and fertiliser! You can watch the video to learn more about the process and how this works.
So far, we’ve got videos explaining what happens to your food waste, garden waste and small electrical items.
We'll be creating more videos over the next few months, so we'd love to know what you'd like to see.
Keep an eye on our YouTube channel for all our new videos as they're released.
You can also be the first to know about new videos by signing up to our monthly Love Essex newsletter!
