Love Essex Fund - further information

This webpage answers any questions you might have about the Love Essex Fund.
How to apply

Applications will open on Monday 3 November. On this date, there will be button on the Love Essex Fund webpage that will take you to an application form.

In the form, you will have to provide your:

  • project name
  • what your project will involve
  • how it will help promote repair
  • a breakdown of costs

Below, you can find an example of how to outline your breakdown of costs.

Eligibility to receive funding

This year, we are only focusing on repair-based projects. Your project is eligible for funding if it:

  • provides opportunities for the community to reduce their household waste through repair services
  • provides skills to the community to help them repair items
  • is based in Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock)

Previous recipients can apply again, either with a new project or to fund the continuation and expansion of a previously funded project.

Maximum funding available

Projects can receive a micro-grant of up to £2,000. Please outline what you need the money for in your application, with the exact amount next to the item.

If your application is successful but you include ongoing running costs in your breakdown of costs, these will be removed. This means you will only be able to receive funding for the remaining items.

Example answer for breakdown of costs

The example below is for a school uniform bank for a micro-grant of £500. Please use this format but make your answer relevant to your own project. Repair projects can apply for up to £2,000.

Dust covers for hanging clothes rails, 6 x £18.49 each = £110.94

Garment cover bags, £25.88 for 12 bags, 60 needed = £129.40

Room diver screens, 2 x £69.95 each = £139.90

Paper bags, £24.99 for 50, x 2 = £49.98

Total estimated cost £430.22

Notifying applicants of their outcome

You should expect to be notified about the outcome of your application week commencing 15 December 2025. If you do not receive an email that week, please check your junk mail.

Non-repair projects

This year, we are only focusing on repair-based projects. This is a one-off funding round where we are trying something new!

In the past, we have also funded projects that promote reuse and helped reduce household waste. These projects will be eligible for future funding rounds. Keep an eye on the Love Essex Fund webpage next year to see when you're eligible.

If you have a project that reduces waste but does not focus on repair, take a look at other funding opportunities below.
