Find out what happens to the wood collected at Essex County Council recycling centres.
Did you know?
The wood and timber collected from recycling centres is usually turned into biomass fuel.
The recycling process
- upon arrival at the recycling facility, the load of woods are inspected and graded
- depending on their grade (A to C), they will be recycled into a range of materials
- this includes things from animal bedding to panel board feedstock and biomass fuel
Due to the varied nature of the wood in the containers from recycling centres, the loads often receive a grade C and are recycled into biomass fuel.
