Reusable period products in Essex schools

Period education in schools has come a long way, but there's still work to be done - especially when it comes to informing young people about the full range of period products available. Reusable options like menstrual cups, period pants, and reusable pads are often overlooked in traditional school education.

That’s where the award-winning Love Your Period campaign steps in. Designed to educate and empower Essex residents, the campaign highlights the lesser-known reusable options to provide a wider range of information.

To support schools in delivering inclusive and comprehensive period education, we launched a special giveaway. 10 Hey Girls period education kits were up for grabs for Essex schools. Each kit included both reusable and disposable products, along with teacher-friendly resources to help guide conversations in the classroom.

Thanks to enthusiastic community support, 14 schools were nominated - and we didn’t want any of them to miss out. While the 10 winning schools received full kits, the remaining four runners-up were gifted a smaller set of reusable products, a pack of ‘My Period’ conversation cards, and the ‘Pads for Dads’ guide to periods - a fantastic resource for engaging fathers in period education.

In addition, schools and families can now explore the updated Love Your Period web pages, which offer detailed guidance and videos on:

These resources walk you through how to use and care for each product type, making it easier than ever to make informed choices.
